Trade Terms

Last updated: 26 August 2026

Operator: Vett Trade is a trading name of Daniel Farnell, a sole trader. Business correspondence address: 15 Blackheath Rise, Lewisham, SE13.
Core model: VettTrade coordinates property-repair jobs with approved independent trades. There is no subscription or fee to receive an assigned job. VettTrade-sourced work must be quoted through VettTrade and paid through VettPay. VettTrade retains 15% of platform payments and the trade receives 85%, subject to refunds, reversals, disputes and applicable payment-provider rules.
Property authority: Do not begin work at a council property, housing-association property, managed block or commercial property unless the VettTrade job record confirms authorised instruction from the responsible council, housing association, landlord, managing agent, property owner or authorised business representative. If authority is unclear, do not start work and contact VettTrade.

1. Eligibility and account information

You must provide accurate, current information about yourself and your business, including your trade categories, coverage areas, insurance and any registration or qualification relevant to regulated work.

2. Verification

We may require identity, public-liability insurance, business and relevant trade-registration evidence before activation or while an account remains active. Verification supports platform quality but does not transfer responsibility for legal compliance, competence or workmanship from you to VettTrade.

3. Assigned jobs

VettTrade may assign work based on location, trade category, job type, availability and other matching information. You do not pay to receive or access a job assigned to your active account. We do not guarantee any minimum number or value of jobs.

4. Property authority and work orders

You must not start chargeable work, alter the property, isolate services, remove fixtures, open up building fabric or otherwise interfere with a council, housing-association, managed-block or commercial property unless the VettTrade job record confirms that the instruction came from a person or organisation with authority to approve the work.

For council or housing-association property this may be the relevant council, housing association, authorised repairs contractor or managing agent. For managed or commercial property it may be the landlord, property manager, managing agent, owner or authorised business representative. A tenant, occupier, employee or customer being present does not by itself prove that they have authority to commission the work.

If there is any doubt, you must stop before starting work and contact VettTrade for confirmation. Emergency action necessary to protect life or prevent immediate serious damage should be handled in accordance with applicable law, emergency procedures and any instructions from the relevant emergency service or utility provider.

5. Attendance and diagnostic visits

If you need to physically attend before you can give a repair quote, use the VettTrade attendance-payment flow before travelling. The standard attendance amount is currently £59 and the emergency/out-of-hours amount is currently £99. These amounts may be updated by VettTrade from time to time.

You must not tell a customer that a VettTrade attendance payment is optional and then later demand it after attending. The customer should agree and pay before you travel. If the customer proceeds with the repair, a paid VettTrade attendance amount is credited against the final repair price through the platform. If the customer does not proceed after the visit, the attendance payment remains payment for the attendance and diagnosis already provided, subject to refund or dispute rights that apply by law or under the payment rules.

6. Customer information

Customer contact details are provided only for handling the relevant VettTrade job. You must not sell, publish, harvest, add them to unrelated marketing lists or use them for unrelated purposes.

7. Quotes

VettTrade-sourced work must be quoted through the platform. Your quote should clearly describe the agreed work and price. Any material variation or additional work should be agreed with the customer and accurately reflected before payment is requested. Where an attendance payment has already been paid, the platform may show the full repair price, the attendance credit and the remaining balance separately.

8. VettPay and platform fee

Payment for VettTrade-sourced work and attendance services must go through VettPay. VettTrade retains 15% of relevant platform payments and the remaining 85% is directed to your connected payout account, subject to the payment provider’s processing, refund, dispute and reversal rules.

9. No circumvention

You must not ask or encourage a customer introduced through VettTrade to pay you privately for that VettTrade-sourced job or attendance service in order to avoid VettTrade fees. Attempts to bypass VettPay may result in suspension or removal.

10. Independent trade relationship

You remain an independent trade business. You are responsible for your own pricing, availability, labour, materials, workmanship, tax, insurance, licences, registrations, guarantees and legal obligations. You are not an employee of VettTrade.

11. Regulated and specialist work

You must only accept work you are competent, insured and legally entitled to perform. Where a particular registration, certification or competence is legally required, you are responsible for holding and maintaining it. Gas work requiring Gas Safe registration must only be carried out by a properly registered person.

12. Job-status and evidence updates

Keep job statuses reasonably accurate so the customer and VettTrade can understand progress. Use the Trade App to record attendance, No Access and completion evidence when required. Do not deliberately mark work complete, won, lost or otherwise inaccurately to manipulate records or fees.

13. Complaints, refunds and disputes

You agree to cooperate reasonably if VettTrade reviews a complaint, refund, card dispute or payment issue. A payment reversal or refund may affect the amount ultimately payable to you where permitted by the payment arrangement and applicable law.

14. Suspension or removal

We may pause or close an account where information cannot be verified, insurance or required registrations expire, there is suspected fraud or circumvention, unauthorised property work, serious or repeated complaints, unsafe conduct, payment abuse or another material breach of these terms.

15. Platform availability

We do not guarantee continuous availability, any particular matching result, customer response, quote acceptance, job volume or earnings. Platform features, coverage and matching rules may change as VettTrade develops.

16. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Subject to that, VettTrade does not guarantee customer-supplied information or the commercial outcome of a job and is not responsible for an independent trade’s workmanship or legal compliance.

17. Changes

We may update these terms as the service changes. Material changes affecting active trades may require a new in-platform agreement acceptance before further work is assigned.
